Promote Your Certificate The Right Way

You spent all this time, efforts and money into building a management system into your business. You worked hard to achieve compliance with the ISO standard, but your customers don’t know that. What about recognition? Here, we show you some ways you can promote your certification and show your customers that your company is committed to quality.

Using the right terminology

Your customers, stakeholders, suppliers and team members need to know about your accomplishment! There are many ways you can promote your certification. The first thing you would want to do is communicate this on your company’s website. For this, you can create a special section dedicated to quality or achievements, depending on the nature of your certification. Be sure to include an updated electronic copy of your certificate so anyone can download it fast and easy.

Tip: Remember that ISO (The International Organization for Standardization) is a global body, but they are not involved in the business of auditing companies. Writing “ISO Certification” in your marketing materials could imply that ISO provided the certification, when in fact, a registrar did. What you can do instead, is describe it with its full designation, for example: “ISO 9001:2015 certification.”

Let the world know

Now that you know how to properly describe your certificate, it’s time to prepare or update your marketing materials. A press release is another great tool for promotion. You can distribute it to key media, such as industry magazines, trade organizations and even local newspapers. You can also plan an event or reception and invite VIP customers, all photos and content can be shared on social media so others can see.

You can also mention your certification in your company’s letterheads, newsletters, trade-show graphics, and even promote it in your company’s vehicles.

Tip: When using logo marks, please make sure to remember that ISO expressly prohibits the use of its logo by certification bodies or certified companies. Instead, use the one that was provided to you by your registrar. The logo mark cannot imply product certification, remember that it certified your management system.

Certification is a great tool to gain recognition and competitive edge, but it is important that we promote it the right way. For guidance into regulations and what is not allowed, your best bet is to always contact your registrar. At QMS, we care about our clients’ achievements and success.
