The Certification Transfer Process Explained

Yes, you can transfer your ISO certificate from one registrar to another, and it is pretty easy too. Read this post to find out the steps needed to transfer your ISO certificate to a different registrar.

Whatever motivates a company to get certified, the organization entrusts its certification body, or registrar, with monumental responsibility. If the registrar’s performance does not live up to expectations, companies can and should change registrars. The first thing you should know is that there are no fees for transferring your certificate.

The IAF defines transfer of certification as the “recognition of an existing and valid management system certification, granted by one accredited certification body, (your current CB), by another accredited certification body, (hereinafter referred to as the “accepting CB”) for the purpose of issuing its own certification.”

To begin with, identify the reasons of why you are unhappy with your current certification body. Some reasons for example, could be price or poor customer service. This in turn will help you make a better decision for a new certification partner.

At QMS, we pride ourselves in always putting the customer first as well as offering competitive prices. We understand that in choosing us, you are trusting us as a long-term partner to bring you value added services and we don’t take that for granted. Below are steps needed to transfer your certificate to QMS:

Step 1:

Get in touch with us to complete our Details Request form, which will provide us with the information we need to start the transfer process.

Step 2:

Submit for review a copy of your current ISO certificate, along with past audit reports and any non-conformances you may have received with proof of closure.

Step 3:

We will email you a quote for the relevant upcoming audit of your certification cycle.

For example, if the last audit conducted was a surveillance 1 audit, we will email you a quote for a surveillance 2 audit, continuing the certification cycle with QMS.

Step 4:

Confirm and sign quote and return back to us. With your confirmation, we will schedule your audit with a QMS lead auditor that is as close to your facilities as possible and after assessment, issue your organization with a QMS certificate.
